YPD Book Club

The YPD Book Club's next read is Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Now is the perfect time to get involved in the book club as the format is changing slightly. Instead of meeting multiple times for one book, the group will read the entire novel and meet to discuss it in its entirety.

The YPD Book Club will meet Wednesday, September 10 at 6:30 pm at Panera Bread to discuss Water for Elephants. Water for Elephants follows the story of a young man who ran away at age 21 and joined the circus. Learn more about the novel here. September YPD luncheon

Do you think no one is looking at what you wear? Do you try to push the envelope with what you wear to work? At the September 17, Joie Borland and Ben Graham will show you how to dress to impress and change people's first impression of you.

The luncheon will take place from 11:45 am to 1 pm and be held at the NICC Town Clock Center. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Rock the Vote

On Thursday, September 18 Rock the Vote will take over the Eagle Point Park Band Shell from 5-8 pm. The bands To Be Continued and Bad Fish will bring the rock to the event while you register to vote and inform yourself about the upcoming election, political parties and candidates.

This free, non-partisan event is to register, educate, and increase the turnout of young voters in the upcoming election. The park entrance fee will be waived and free food and drink will be provided.

Rock the Vote is sponsored by Liberty Bank, Northeast Iowa Community College, University of Dubuque, Loras College, Clarke College, Young Professionals of Dubuque, Dubuque Jaycees, Dubuque 365 Ink, Cumulus Broadcasting, and Hy-Vee.

Hawkeye Homecoming Social

Attention all Iowa Hawkeye fans! Can't get tickets for the homecoming game? Come and cheer on the Hawks at Courtside on September 27th. Watch the game in style from the reserved VIP box for a chance to network with fellow YPs as the Hawkeye's take on Northwestern. Cost is $10 to get into the VIP area which includes appetizers and beer. The game starts at noon so we will see you there.

YPD Putt Putt Best Shot

Take your skills to the greens... the putting greens that is! On Saturday, October 11, YPD is hosting the Put Putt Best Shot at the Dubuque Driving Range from 1-4 pm.

Now is the chance to gather up your friends and co-workers for an afternoon of fun at the mini-golf course. The cost is $50.00 for a foursome (you could even get your company to sponsor you!) and includes "green fees" and dinner. Excess funds will be donated to Donna Ginter's Thanksgiving dinners for those in need.
